The Swallowtail in Pool Party and Indigo

I am so glad that Pool Party and Island Indigo are moving into the color collections. I was really thinking that I was going to miss Pool Party and now it is here for a while at least.

The Swallowtail stamp is amazing and I love it because you don't need to add much to have a beautiful card. This is a simple one layer card with a little bit of the Dazzling Diamonds glitter added to it for a little bit of sparkle. I think this card took about 5 minutes to make and it looks great.

Add the gorgeous hello from the My Friend set and voila you have a great easy card. It is also very easy to mail because there are no bumps or hard embellishments.

The sun is shining and it is not snowing! We are going to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Seriously, French Foliage Is Retiring

French Foliage is my all time favorite leaf set and it is retiring! I know I will not be parting with this stamp set when this catalog is done because it is such a great set for those fall projects. I love the splatter stamp and the script images included in this set.

I love how you can achieve a watercolor look with this stamp. I stamped the images with ink on to watercolor paper and then brushed them with a clean Aqua Painter to get an easy watercolored image.

The skeleton look of the images is great for fall.

In this card you can see the splatter and the script images. They are a great addition to the fall look of this great stamp set.

So What Do You Think About Secret Garden?

Ok, I looked at the Secret Garden stamp set and looked at it again and now I finally have it in my craft office. I wasn't sure about this one, but now that I have it I am happy that I do. I do have to say that I am definitely developing my favorite ways to use this set.

The Secret Garden is really nice with the Feel Goods stamp set. I like the larger sentiments and the flowers working together. I also love that you don't have to cut out the flowers by hand because there is a framelit for each of the flowers. I love having cut out images, but I do not love cutting out flowers so I plan to have many more cut out flowers now with the framelits.

I also love the Honeycomb Embossing Folder for the background. That is such a fun new folder and works for so many different cards.

Did You See The Sizzlit Pinwheel?

This little Pinwheel Sizzlit is kind of tucked in the Stampin' Up! Spring Mini-Catalog on page 33 and is easy to miss. You will not want to miss out on ordering it because it is so much fun using this little pinwheel with cards and projects.

There is also a corresponding stamp set called Wishes Your Way with sentiments made just for use with pinwheels. They range from birthday to special wishes. You could easily change up the colors and paper here to made this card for a boy.

Towels For Two Handmade Wedding Card

 When I saw the Towels For Two Single Stamp I knew that I wanted it. The single stamp option is a great way to get unique stamps. You can see all of the Single Stamps available here. I think this card would make a really fun bridal shower card. Using the ampersand from the Ciao, Baby! stamp was shown in our Stampin' Up! demonstrator magazine with alphabet stamps spelling out the "Mr." and "Mrs." and I thought it would be perfect to use it with this "Mr. and Mrs." stamp.

A Bright Card For A Friend

I felt like pulling the Melon Mambo ink out so I worked from that to create this bright card for a friend. I used the Color Coach to put the colors together and then pulled out the Blooming With Kindness Stamp Set because I love that large bloom.

Isn't that flower gorgeous? I do like it done with the Melon Mambo ink. Have a great Sunday!

I based this card off a sketch over at Retro Sketches. Sometimes I see a sketch that looks like so much fun that I just have to try it.

Where Do You Find Your Inspiration?

Sometimes you can find inspiration and ideas when you least expect to find it! I was looking through the Kohl's clearance rack and they had these kitchen towels that seemed to be Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, and Lucky Limeade. I thought these colors would be perfect for a card with flowers.

I used the Secret Garden Bundle for this card. I love how the flowers can be easily cut out with the corresponding framelits because I can tell you that I would not be cutting out these flowers very many times. I like how bright and "spring like" these colors feel, especially on a day when we have just received 15 inches of snow.

I am going to miss the Lucky Limeade color when its turn is done as an In-Color. This is the last year this color will be available so if you like it be sure to stock up on your paper and accessories.

For Mom Today

Tuesday was all about dad and today is about mom. Again a fairly simple card, not as simple as dad's card on Monday, but one that is just right for mom. I used the Dress Up Framelit to make this cut out and then place the Designer Series Paper behind the cut out.

This card could be used as a Mother's Day, birthday or any special event for mother. I have found many uses for the the Dress Up Framlits even without the Pop 'N Cuts base. Just a reminder that you can purchase the Dress Up Framelits separately and get a lot of use out of them with out the base.

It's time to start working on the Mother's Day and Father's Day cards and when you are in the mode you could even make other cards for mothers and fathers. I know for me that I seem to think more about these occasions at this time of year.

Speaking of mothers, they are calling for another 10" of snow by tomorrow night. I think Mother Nature has forgotten that it is APRIL! I have seen some jokes going around wondering what kind of May flowers April snow showers bring. I hope it is sunnier in your area!

Clean and Simple Masculine Card

I have been seeing a lot of very simple cards with a lot white space. I think these cards are great for masculine cards and wanted to pull out my "Best Dad Ever" stamp set to try one out.

After deciding what I wanted to do, I think this card took a total of 10 minutes. You could easily switch out the "happy birthday" for "Happy Father's Day" or one of the other sentiments included in the set.

Stamping Tip: Do you want brads to match the colors you are using? I used a 1/8" circle punch to make the small brads for this sentiment piece. It is so easy to punch them out and then glue them to the card stock.

I am going to experiment with a variety of masculine cards made with a clean and simple look. I will be posting a lot of them over on my Facebook page.
